Trane moving national distribution center to Southaven

Trane is one of the world's largest producers of heating and air conditioning systems. Now Southaven will be home to it's new national parts distribution center.

It will create more than 140 new jobs and is transporting at least 60 others from the Memphis Trane location that's closing down.

Although Memphis and several other cities tried to woo the company, Southaven won.

Mayor Greg Davis says Southaven sealed the deal because they could offer more.

"I think you start with taxes, taxes, taxes! The way we analyzed and looked at it, if we don't give a little, there's absolutely nothing to gain. We're able to cut our tax rate over a 10 year period which is allowed by state law and cut their tax rate about in half," Davis said.

Mayor Davis says five more new businesses are coming to Southaven and he's looking forward to welcoming them early next year.
