Man shot behind barbeque restaurant - WMC Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

Reported by Janice Broach

Man shot behind barbeque restaurant

The truck sat in front of the Fast Check at Winchester and Knight. A cell phone on the step marked as evidence. Investigators on the scene said the truck driver was  shot several times behind a barbecue restaurant.

"He was on his own phone calling for an ambulance. They got there took him to the hospital where he died," Lt. Mark Miller of the Memphis Police Department said.

He drove just a couple of hundred feet into the road and on to the parking lot of the Fast Check.

Investigators do not know why the truck driver was behind the restaurant. His truck was empty. The restaurant said it did not get any deliveries.

The owner of trucking company said he did not know why the driver was here.

"Everybody knows to be safe this time of the year. We just don't know what has happened," trucking company owner Stoney Suitt said.

People inside the restaurant said they didn't see anything.  The people in the Fast Check said they didn't either.

Fast Check has a video surveillance camera on the outside of the store. Police are looking at that for clues.
