A former city council candidate and member of the Ford family was arrested for driving under the influence early Thursday morning.

According to Memphis Police spokesperson Sgt. Vince Higgins, Sir Isaac Ford was arrested on charges of speeding, driving under the influence, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.

Higgins said an officer witnessed Ford, driving a 2005 Mercedes SL500, speeding eastbound on Union Avenue near Cleveland shortly after 4:00 a.m. Wednesday.  The officer stopped Ford near Union Avenue and East Parkway, where Ford failed a field sobriety test, and was arrested after failing a blood alcohol test.

Ford was released on $100 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned on January 11.

Sir Isaac Ford served as campaign manager for his brother Jake's 2006 congressional run.  Ford was defeated by Myron Lowery in a 2003 run for Memphis City Council.
