A water main break last week left a big mess in the yard of a Memphis woman who is now worried about permanent damage to her property.

As MLGW crews worked furiously Wednesday to fix the problem, Audrey Rush showed Action News 5 video of the problem they were trying to fix.

"You could hear the water rushing under our swimming pool, which you can see is above ground and has sand under it," she said as the video played.  "It's just ruining our entire yard."

The mess started when a water main broke across the street and two doors down from Rush's home last Thursday.

In the subsequent days, a nearly constant stream of water flowed downhill on Rush's street and through her yard.  From there, the flow went across her driveway, into her backyard, and around her above ground pool.

Rush said she was concerned the flooding was causing her pool to sink, leaving her property with permanent damage.

"I'm worried about the pool sinking, and whatever else it might do to the wood and everything," she said.

MLGW crews were able to patch the break Wednesday, stopping the flow and allowing Rush to assess the damage.

Rush said she spoke with MLGW's claims department, but was told the utility could not help pay for any damage to her property because the utility did not break the water main.
