Fans look to online marketplaces for sold out Liberty Bowl tickets

If you thought Hannah Montana was the only hot ticket in Memphis this year, think again.  The AutoZone Liberty Bowl sold out back on December 12th, sending those without tickets online to search for a deal.

Before the sellout, Ticketmaster's listed prices for tickets ranged from $35 to $65.  But to get into the game now, be ready to pull out your wallet.

One popular place to look for tickets is eBay. Thursday morning, tickets to the game could be found for just a bit more than face value.  Because the game is just a little more than a day away, most sellers promise to leave the winner's tickets at will call the morning of the game.

If you buy tickets on eBay, use caution. Unless you use PayPal, if there is a problem and you don't get your tickets on time, it can be hard to get your money back.

Another option is StubHub.com.  Stubhub specializes in brokering ticket sales, and offers a guarantee to buyers that offers replacement tickets or a refund if you have a problem with your transaction.  But you'll pay more for that security.  Thursday, tickets on Stubhub were nearly all in the $200 range, with overnight shipping as the preferred delivery method.

By Thursday afternoon, even the $200 tickets on Stubhub were sold out.  Because of a time limit the website imposes on sales to ensure tickets arrive to the purchaser before an event is held, it is unlikely additional tickets will go on sale.
