Civil suit filed against Memphis doctor

Last month Dr. Bret Sokoloff's attorney questioned whether the Doctor has a red bullseye tattooed on his wallet.  Now, one of the women who claims Sokoloff sexually assaulted her more than once is taking aim at the doctor's assets.

Charges of attempted rape, sexual battery and indecent exposure could cost Dr. Bret Sokoloff 20 years of his freedom.

But a lawsuit filed Friday could cost him $2 million dollars.

It's the first civil suit to be filed by one of Sokoloff's alleged sexual assault victims.

"She's a victim and it is our belief that as any other victim she's entitled to be compensated for her pain and suffering her emotional distress," victim's attorney Randy Fishman said.

In the lawsuit, a registered nurse accuses Sokoloff of fondling her at a surgery center where they were working last January.

The nurse said a month later Sokoloff pulled down his pants and forced her to touch his genitals repeatedly while she was in a locker room stocking shelves with surgery scrubs.

Fishman says his client suffers from permanent psychological damage and part of the money will pay for her medical bills.

Sokoloff's attorney Bill Massey and his associate Lorna McCluskey said they were aware of the suit being filed but had no further comment.
