U of M Basketball Coach John Calipari is guarding against any slipups in his teams' performance..
That translates into extra work for his players...
Weather it's early in the morning, or just before practice, Coach Cal is putting each and everyone of his athletes through grueling individual workout sessions..
Whether it's Big Man Pierre Niles getting banged by assistant coaches under the Boards...
Or starters like Chris Douglas Roberts and Derrick Rose working on hundreds of Pass and cuts, this U of M team is using sweat equity to justify its' lofty ranking...and not just by beating up on other teams.
Forward Shawn Taggart says:
"After the Cincinnati Game Coach came to me and we did these workouts to improve focus. It's hard, but it works."
Says Guard Doneal Mack:
"The goal is to get us more focused in the games and to work harder."
Tigers Coach John Calipari believes in this new routine:
"The purpose of these workouts is to get them more confident in themselves..and so I can see them and be more confident in them when I put them in. It's not about getting more minutes, but about winning games. And we can do that with them playing at a high level."
The Number-2 Ranked Tigers hope their workouts will keep them focused against Siena Thursday night.
That game tips off 8pm at FedExForum.
