Officer recovering after cruiser crash

A Memphis Officer is recovering after a cruiser crash Monday morning.

The officer had to be cut out of the car.

Firefighters and paramedics surrounded the officer as she was taken out of her squad car. She was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

One woman who lives in the area says the intersection has become a hazard ever since road crews realigned the streets from Jackson to Mills and swapped the stop signs back in September.

"There have been 11 accidents.  This is the latest.  There was one this morning at 6 o'clock and there was on on Friday," neighbor Tanja Mitchell said. "I'm just afraid someone's going to get hurt really bad."

The driver of the green ford refused medical treatment on the scene and will be taken into police custody for an outstanding warrant and traffic charges.
