Four year old injured in hit and run recovers as police search for driver

Four-year-old Antwone Moore was struck by a hit-and-run driver in front of Sharpe Elementary Thursday morning.

"I just seen a car rolling down the street and I just seen headlights. I was turned around to get Antwone and I didn't see him. He was gone," Antwone's aunt Lavia Turner said.

Turner says it's difficult to see her nephew with scars and bruises...but calls it a MIRACLE that he's even alive.

"It's a blessing he's here because it could've been much worse," Turner said.

Meanwhile, at Sharpe Elementary, Principal Gary Zimmerman said he can't help but stare outside at the street. He and the rest of the faculty have their eyes peeled, looking for that silver Dodger Charger with tinted windows The car that witnesses said hit Antwone Moore.

"The word is not angry. The word is I'm totally disappointed in somebody that would come through a school zone driving like that to start with and then there's no way the individual didn't know that something got hit," Zimmerman said.

As police look for the person responsible, Moore continues to get better. He hopes to be out of the hospital in a couple of days.
