YOUR TURN: Kevin Hayden's sadness about infant mortality

This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Kevin Hayden. Hayden wrote after watching the NBC Nightly News report on a Memphis doctor who’s been fighting for more than 40 years to lower the area’s high infant mortality rare.

Dr. Sheldon Korones was featured on the Nightly News segment called "Making a Difference."  Hayden is happy about that, but sad to see Memphis singled out on the issue of infant mortality. In his words:

"This is one more problem in a long list that makes me sad, given the promise that is Memphis. Even though Brian Williams started the report calling Memphis a great American city, it is the end of the story that viewers will remember most – a picture of a reporter walking down a street lined with abandoned homes and a county in the middle of the United States of America where although one doctor has dedicated his whole life to making a difference, not much progress has been made."

That’s Kevin Hayden’s turn. Now it’s your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
