OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - A federal judge has agreed to postpone the trial for powerful plaintiffs attorney Richard "Dickie" Scruggs on charges he conspired to influence a Mississippi judge to obtain a favorable ruling.
U.S. District Judge Neal Biggers Jr., during a hearing in Oxford Wednesday, agreed to move the trial date from February 25th to March 31st.
The alleged conspiracy came in a dispute over $26.5 million in legal fees from Hurricane Katrina litigation. It is one of two cases swirling around Scruggs and other politically connected attorneys involving allegations they attempted to illegally influence judges.
