Memphis Police investigate "suspicious" death of child

Memphis Police are investigating the death of a Memphis child.

Calling the death "suspicious," investigators said Cynthia Ramirez, died Thursday evening at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center.

Investigators said at approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a report of an accidental injury regarding a child that had been transported to LeBonheur from Baptist East Hospital.

Officials told police the child was in surgery.  She passed away two hours later.

Police are questioning the child's parents, and no charges have been charged in the case.

An official cause of death has not been released.
