Jena recovering from demonstration

JENA, La. (AP) - Jena, Louisiana is recovering Tuesday after about 50 white supremacists gathered for a demonstration that included one arrest.

The Learned, Mississippi-based Nationalist Movement joined with the Ku Klux Klan Monday to demand white rights, severe prosecution of the so-called Jena Six and an end to the holiday for Martin Luther King Junior. The demonstration drew about twice as many counter-demonstrators.

Authorities say one man was arrested and booked with battery of a police officer and resisting arrest. They identified him as a member of the New Black Panthers. Several demonstrators brought guns but the day was mostly peaceful.

Nearly all the demonstrators and counter-demonstrators appeared to be from outside of Jena.
