Memphis Police are investigating a Tuesday night carjacking that started in Southaven.

Investigators said a 25-year-old man was carjacked just before midnight Tuesday near the intersection of Swinnea Goodman Road in Southaven. At least three suspects drove the man to Memphis, dropping him off in the Oakhaven neighborhood, where they shot and robbed him.

"They dropped him off on Jackson," Memphis Police Inspector Mark McClain said. "They put him out of his vehicle.  There was a cut in the fence.  He walked over to Hollyberry, knocked on a door, and asked the residents to call police."

The man was eventually taken to the Regional Medical Center to be treated.

Several hours later, the victim's car was located at a Shell gas station near Bellevue and South Parkway in Memphis. Upon spotting police officers, the suspects jumped into a blue Honda Civic that was carjacked Tuesday on Winchester Road.

Soon after, investigators said, officers took one man and two women into custody.

"We believe at this time we've got two carjacking cars," McClain said. "Both were carjacked in Mississippi and ended up in Memphis."

Investigators said they would continue to question the suspects, and were unsure if additional people participated in the carjacking. Initially, they said, scanner traffic indicated four suspects were involved.

The three suspects are currently being held at 201 Poplar.
