Toner pirates preying on small businesses and organizations

A warning is going out about toner pirates. They are con artists who are ripping off business owners.

It is a scam that has already cost large and small businesses, schools, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations an estimated $200 million per year.

Here's how the scam works. The con artist calls the business to find out what kind of copier it uses. Then the caller tries to sell the business toner. That is when the toner starts showing up. And your business is billed.

Even if you are lucky enough to track down where the supplies come from, your business can be charged huge re-stocking fees to return them.

Most of the toner is not good and can damage your copier.

If you receive supplies or bills for services you didn't order, you don't have to pay, and you don't have to return the unordered merchandise.
