National Weather Service issues Winter Weather Advisory

The following statement was issued Friday morning by the National Weather Service:

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MEMPHIS HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST SATURDAY.

LIGHT SNOW OR SLEET WITH LESS THAN ONE INCH OF ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE SOUTH OF A LINE FROM SAVANNAH TO MEMPHIS AND FORREST CITY ARKANSAS THROUGH TONIGHT. PRECIPITATION SOUTH OF A LINE FROM TUPELO MISSISSIPPI TO MARVELL ARKANSAS WILL BE PREDOMINANTLY IN THE FORM OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WITH ICE ACCUMULATIONS LESS THAN TWO TENTHS OF AN INCH.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET...OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

Shelby, TN; Fayette, TN; Crittenden, AR; Alcorn, MS; Marshall, MS; Hardeman, TN; Tate, MS; Tippah, MS; Cross, AR; Tunica, MS
