Shelby County Commission passes ordinance on sexually oriented businesses - WMC Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

Shelby County Commissioners adopted tougher rules for sexually oriented businesses located within the county at a meeting Monday afternoon.
Monday's ordinance speaks to adult businesses grandfathered in before zoning law changes that prohibited the establishments near neighborhoods, schools, and churches.
The ordinance states if such an establishment breaks the law or loses its permit, that permit will be permanently revoked, essentially putting the establishment out of business.
Commissioner Steve Mulroy said the intent of the ordinance is to remove strip club and adult businesses from such grandfathered areas over time, driving them instead toward industrial areas of the county.
