Memphis nightclub security guard found murdered along busy road

Memphis police are searching a gunman they say shot and killed a nightclub security guard Monday morning while he was sitting in his car.

The shooting happened not too far from Fire and Ice, the club where where the guard worked near the corner of Bill Morris Parkway and Ridgeway.

Investigators have not released the 31-year-old victim's name yet because they are still working to notify his family.

The Memphis Police Department received the call about the shooting at 4:30 a.m. Monday.  Investigators said they were looking into what happened at the club before the guard left work that may have lead to the shooting.

A source close to the investigation said the security guard removed several people from the club last before he left.

The owner of Fire and Ice said his establishment's security guards were contracted through Expert Security.  He was still trying to determine which of his guards had been shot.

No one from Expert Security was available for comment.
