Frayser High School put on lock down for second day in a row

For the second day in a row, Frayser High was put on lockdown Thursday, officials said.

The lockdown occurred at 10:30 a.m., while Memphis Police searched the back yard of property across the street from the school as part of an Operation: Blue Crush undercover investigation.

School officials said the lockdown only lasted several minutes, adding it is standard protocol for a school to be locked down if police are conducting an investigation in the area.

Frayser High senior student Nick Thody said it was a frightening experience.

"When the bus pulled in, the teacher ran out and was told to get back in the bus. It pulled around to the back. So, they told us to all go to the library," he said.

Wednesday, both Frayser High and Frayser Elementary were put on lockdown after shots were fired in an area close to the school.

Officials said Operation: Blue Crush  officers are conducting a number of drug sweeps, looking for hot spots in the Frayser area.

Police would not comment about what officers were searching for Thursday.
