MY TURN: A history-making opportunity

WMC-TV General Manager Lee Meredith WMC-TV General Manager Lee Meredith

People in Arkansas and Tennessee have a remarkable chance next Tuesday to help select our next President by voting in the presidential primaries.

For the people who will be voting in the Democratic primary, Election Day is truly an historic opportunity. The likely nominee for the Democrats will be an African American or a woman, and that will be a first for a major party in a U.S. Presidential election.

People in Arkansas have reasons to be particularly interested in this Presidential Primary because the choices include a former Arkansas governor on the Republican ballot and a former Arkansas first lady on the Democratic side.

I urge you to take the time to vote in these primaries next Tuesday. If you need motivation, just remember the old quote, “Bad politicians are elected by good people who don’t vote.”

That’s my turn. Now it’s your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
