Neighborhood relaxes following arrest of robbery suspects

None of it happened on campus. None of the victims were even students. Still, officials at Rhodes College wanted to be cautious.

"We found it necessary and appropriate to alert the student body," Director of campus safety John Blaisdell said.

1,650 students received an e-mail from Campus Safety Director John Blaisdell warning them about what was happening just outside campus gates.

The same activity keeping dog Harry and his owners George and Jan Ellis walking a neighborhood that changed ever so slightly.

"It has certainly been on edge," Ellis said.

On edge ever since the news spread: Matt Zilch was robbed walking from the mini-mart back home. Soon, one armed robbery turned into a string across Evergreen.

"We had the locks changed and everything, but there's still that element of, that kind of lurking suspicion in the back of your head," Zilch said.

A lurking suspicion now eased.  Thursday Memphis Police arrested six people in connection with those robberies.

Investigators said they are still connecting all the dots.  Regardless, school officials are happy it's over.

"We're very pleased that this has seemingly come to an end," Blaisdell said.

And just outside campus gates, the Ellis' walk a neighborhood back to normal once again.
