Officials seize more than 60 dogs from puppy mill

Agencies from all over Shelby County helped seize more than sixty dogs from a Shelby County home investigators said was a puppy mill

"I had no clue what was going on and was totally shocked," neighbor Gwen Branch said.

Branch said she did hear dogs barking but didn't think much of it because there are ducks, geese and chickens on the property.

The animals were kept outside. Cooped up behind a house on Walsh Road.

"They've been housed outside and we had temperatures freezing in the last couple of nights," Nina Wingfield of the Collierville Animal Shelter said.

Patricia Kinney, the owner of dogs, was cited for operating a kennel without a license. She was not taken into custody but must appear in court.

Investigators believe Kinney got rid of quite a few other dogs before Friday's raid.

The dogs were taken different shelters in the area. Collierville got 30 dogs.

Investigators said the dogs were not malnourished, but they were living in inhumane conditions.

Veterinarians are checking out the animals with health problems.

Some of them may have to be euthanized.
