Hundreds gather for Hino grand opening

It seems the kinks have been ironed out as about 200 people gathered in Marion, Arkansas to celebrate a milestone for Hino Motors.

At Thursday's grand opening, the company announced it's a full capacity.

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe hosted the president of the Japanese based company along with executives from the Arkansas plant.

The company said the Marion facility now supports 300,000 Toyota Tundras and Sequoias.

The plant opened in October 2006 and now employs 700 workers.

Early on they had trouble with high-worker turnover but Governor Beebe said the state stepped in to turn the problem around.

They switched to a method of hands on training to screen employees.

The plant started with a 40 percent turnover rate. Now, they're below one percent.

Hino teamed up with the Mid-South Community College to train workers.

They donated $10,000 to the college today and launched an annual college scholarship fund for high school seniors in the 12 county Delta region.
