Police make arrests in Operation Renewed Resolution

Just before the sun came up, Memphis police began arresting people suspected in drug and gang activity.

"We're trying to make neighborhoods safer, we're trying to provide some peace of mind for families and the elderly," Sgt Lambert Ross of the Memphis Police Department said.

Officers said undercover officers identified all of the suspects as being involved in drug and gang related transactions.

"Under the blue crush initiative we're not going to let up we're going to continue and continue to do the things were doing to remove drugs guns and gangs from the neighborhood," Larry Godwin of the Memphis Police Department said.

The busts were coordinated by the organized crime unit.

Officers hope these kinds of arrests will discourage others from getting involved in gangs and using drugs.

Besides Thursday's round up, police also announced two other major drug bust.

Tuesday night officers stopped two Florida men on I-40 and confiscated $125,000 worth of cocaine.

And also this month officers confiscated a large quantity of meth, some weapons, and cash from a Memphis apartment.
