Former strip club owner sentenced in federal court

A Memphis strip club owner was sentenced to 18 months in prison Friday for promoting prostitution at two of his clubs.

Ralph Lunati was in federal court during his sentencing Friday.  In addition to his prison term, the government will keep over $220,000 they seized from both clubs when they were raided in December, 2006.

United States Attorney David Kustoff said Lunati's sentence was appropriate.

"The judge very carefully pointed out on the record that he had no criminal history," Kustoff said.  "Had he had a criminal history, that would have been an enhancing factor in terms of the sentencing, but he had no criminal history."

Kustoff said during the fed's two year undercover operation, 58 indictments had been issued and 12 convictions had been won.

The building that housed Platinum Plus is expected to go up for auction in the next 60 days. The Tunica Cabaret had multiple owners, and right now is part of a civil suit in court.
