Tennessee lands filming for 'Hannah Montana' movie

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The upcoming "Hannah Montana" movie will be filmed in Middle Tennessee and Los Angeles.

The Walt Disney Company says filming will begin in early May with the movie scheduled for release May 1, 2009.

No details about locations have been announced.

State officials have been negotiating with Disney for at least six months to get the movie made in Tennessee.

The film is based on the popular Disney TV series. In the series, Miley Cyrus plays a high school student, Miley Stewart, who moves from Tennessee to Southern California and lives a secret double life as a pop star. Her real life father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, also plays her father on the show.

The Cyrus family owns a large farm in Middle Tennessee.
