Whalum, Sr. gets special honor at Mid-South post office

A former City leader will be forever remembered in Memphis.

The U.S. Post Office on South Third is now called the Kenneth Whalum, Senior Post office.

Whalum died in October at the age of 73.  He worked for the post office, served as a pastor, and served on the Memphis City Council.

"This has never happened before.  It's never happened in the U.S. for a former employee have a building renamed in his honor.  I am overwhelmed," Kenneth Whalum, Jr. said.

Before his death, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed the bill to re-name the post office after Kenneth Whalum, Senior.
