Preparations underway as fans begin to converge downtown

Preparations are well underway downtown.

With police in place and garbage cans upright.

Jeffrey Isbell is ready, too.

His orange and white sneakers are tied and his cell phone holder clipped.

"I've got my Vol underwear on too," Isbell said.

His unmentionables, no match for what's in store.

"I've only got on just a little bit of Vols stuff. But I'm going to have a whole lot on tomorrow. I'm going to be like the orange walking balloon," Isbell said.

Inside First Tennessee, it is orange and blue Friday. Insiders said blue outnumbered orange 15-1.

Big-game fever escalates not only around town, but elsewhere, too. Making front-page news nationwide.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates this weekend's attention could mean millions in future revenue.

"In a way it really does end up having a really positive spin for the city overall. You know, this is tremendous for us," Kevin Kane of the Convention and Visitor's Bureau said.

Tremendous for a city poised to capitalize on what is momentarily the capitol of college basketball.
