Investigation continues into ASU shooting

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Campus police at Arkansas State continue to work their investigation into a shooting Saturday that left one student with a minor injury. Police would not comment on the case, but university spokesman Tom Moore said no arrests had been made and police were still investigating.

Moore said a bullet apparently ricocheted off a campus parking lot at NorthPark Quads on campus, and either a bullet fragment or a piece of gravel hit Alfred Louis in the left leg.

Louis was treated at a hospital and released. The university said he apparently was not the shooter's intended target. Louis is an offensive lineman for the Indians.

Moore said that after the shooting, officials went through the building and notified students and asked them to stay in their reooms. Notices about the shooting also were posted around campus. However, the decision was made not to use the school's new text message alert system.
