YOUR TURN: Janice Carr's displeasure with our "Shannon Street" story

This week's "Your Turn" goes to Janice Carr. She is one of several people who wrote to express displeasure with our story on the 1983 Shannon Street siege. Carr thought we trivialized the murder of the police officer and the pain that was suffered by his family and fellow officers.

In her words:

"Channel 5 should be ashamed and in my opinion owes our police officers an apology for the trivial attitude exhibited toward this horrible crime. I vividly remember the whole event because I had a young son at the time and could not imagine how this young officer's family was coping with what was going on. You said the officer was beaten to death; well he was tortured for more than a day before there was silence. That officer was just trying to help the honest citizens of this city and look what it got him. That is the story here. Why doesn't WMC care what happens to the "good guys?"

That's Janice Carr's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
