Train derails near Milan; No one hurt

MILAN, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say no one was hurt and there were no threatening leaks in Milan from the derailment of a cargo train carrying hazardous material.

Ten cars of the 84-car CSX cargo train derailed about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, sending sparks in the air. The intersection at the site reopened about 11 a.m. Friday.

The cause remained under investigation Friday. Most of the derailed cars were empty.       Authorities said the engine separated from the train and continued to travel.

The Milan Fire Department said one of the train's derailed cars was a tanker containing hazardous, pressurized methane gas. Fire officials said the container received minor damage, but none of the gas leaked.
