Memphis Dominates at TN High School Basketball Division Two State Championships

In High School State Championship action.. Briarcrest advances to the Division Two Big School Final by beating ECS in one all-Memphis Semifinal 59-to-55.

Marlon Brown scored 35 points and

grabbed 10 rebounds, and Harding Academy pulled out a 72-68

overtime victory over Tipton-Rosemark Academy Friday night in the

Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association's Division II

Class A boys championship game.

Harding (22-10) trailed through the first three quarters but

outscored Tipton-Rosemark (21-10) 19-15 in the fourth to tie it at

63 and force overtime. Harding outscored Tipton-Rosemark 9-5 in the

extra period to pull out the victory.

Brown hit a jumper for a 58-56 lead in the fourth quarter, and

his layup with 58 seconds left put Harding up 63-60. But Todd

Starks hit three free throws with 44 seconds to go to tie the game

up. Tyler Hickman missed two shots down the stretch that would have

won the game in overtime for Harding.

Hickman finished with nine points and 14 rebounds for Harding.

Jacob Arnott scored 30, and Starks finished with 27 for

Tipton-Rosemark.

Tournament MVP Monica Miller scored 18

points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Sharwil Bell added 12 points as

Lausanne beat Southern Baptist 50-37 Friday night for the Tennessee

Secondary Schools Athletic Association's Division II Class A

basketball title.

Southern Baptist (27-6) dominated the boards 45-29 at Lipscomb

University's Allen Arena. But SBEC was outshot by Lausanne (32-3).

Lausanne led throughout and by as much as 12 on a pair of Lauren

Avant free throws with 33 seconds left in the first half, and

Lausanne took a 28-18 lead into halftime. Bell's jumper with 2:40

pushed the lead to 48-33 as Lausanne wrapped up the game. Avant, a

sophomore, was named the division's Miss Basketball after the game.

Adrienne McKay led SBEC with eight points.
