Family struggles to cope with the death of Cecil Dotson

Investigators have been on the scene all day gathering evidence from the house on Lester.  It is not clear when the murders happened, but Action News 5's Janice Broach learned from family members that it likely was not on Monday.

Six people including two children all murdered in the house on Lester.

Priscilla Shaw, the mother of the man who rented the house, found out when a relative told her.

Cecil Dotson, his girlfriend, Dotson's friend, his girlfriend, and two children were all dead. Three other children at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center.

Dotson's relatives said he is the father of all five children. The mother of four of the children died in the house. On Sunday, the mother of one of the children killed in the house went to pick up her child.

"She went there Sunday night and knocked on the door. The hard door was cracked and the storm door was pushed up but not locked. She said she opened it and hollered in but nobody she closed it up and left," Nicole Dotson said.

Cecil Dotson's sister said the mother of the child went back on Monday and there was still no answer.

That's when she called police, who discovered the carnage inside.

Relatives said they cannot imagine why anyone would do this.

Police have no suspects and no motive.
