Mitchell-Ford indicted on 2 new DUI charges

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The ex-wife of former state Sen. John Ford has been indicted in two more drunken driving cases.

Tamara Mitchell-Ford was arrested in those incidents before she was ordered in November to begin serving 11 months and 27 days for violating her probation for a February 2007 DUI charge in Collierville.

Her husband, a former Memphis Democrat, was ordered last month to report to prison within 60 days to begin serving a 5 1/2-year sentence for bribery.

In anticipation of the indictments, Mitchell-Ford's attorney said recently a tentative plea agreement with prosecutors called for her to plead guilty to both new DUI charges and be given concurrent sentences of 11 months and 29 days in jail.

Mitchell-Ford then would serve about six more months under that agreement.
