Neighbors help nab burglars in Olive Branch

Six teenagers are in a Mississippi jail after being charged with breaking into an Olive Branch home.

Police said the burglars were nabbed thanks to a quick-thinking witness who called 911.

"They are breaking in houses and vandalizing stuff. I think that should be enough to be concerned," resident Charlie Williams said.

Williams lives near the home where police caught the teens trying to break in.

"We were able to stop these individuals basically in their tracks trying to get as much copper out of the building as possible," Major Kevin McKenzie of the Olive Branch Police Department said.

Now officers are investigating to see if the suspects were responsible for other copper thefts in Olive Branch.

"I think that anytime someone is stealing something, and you can catch them, that's good," McKenzie said.

Neighbors said they are relieved police made the arrests.

Olive Branch Police hope the busts will discourage others breaking in homes in their city.
