YOUR TURN: Charles Reed blames parents for school violence

WMC-TV General Manager Lee Meredith WMC-TV General Manager Lee Meredith

This week, the "Your Turn" inbox was full of letters from people who are concerned about school violence.

Our letter writers had many different ideas about who should be blamed for school violence or what should be done to prevent it. We chose a letter from Charles Reed who blames parents. In his words:

With all of the shootings and other violence in the city schools, is it not about time to seriously punish the offenders and hold parents accountable for the actions of their children?  It is the responsibility of a parent or parents to properly raise children.  The school system has a big enough job trying to give children an education.  What ever happened to the practice of "raising" children to have some respect and courtesy?

That's Charles Reed's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
