Fans make Tiger Gift Shop a popular Saturday destination

The morning after the Memphis Tigers won big in the Sweet Sixteen round of the 2008 NCAA tournament, fans turned out early at the Tiger Gift Shop in search of Elite Eight gear.

"To support my alumni school, I had to get a new shirt," fan Sheree Easley said.

Caleb Erin said he woke up Saturday morning in the same Tiger tee he was wearing during Friday night's win over the Michigan State Spartans.

"Yeah, and then I said, 'I want an Elite Eight shirt,' 'cause they were coming out with that, so it's pretty cool coming up here," he said.

Saturday morning, there was no shortage of trinkets an treasures at the shop on Highland Avenue, all sporting the mark of the Memphis Tigers.

Three-year-old Morgan English set her sights on a Tiger birdhouse, and a blue bear for her baby brother, Drew.  But her attention quickly turned when her mother found a Tiger cheerleading outfit that was just her size.

Meanwhile, shopper Mike Yancey said it was his second time in the store this week.

"I'm back again to get something else," he said. "Got the grandchildren here...gotta fix them up!"

No matter how shoppers chose to show their Tiger pride, it seemed Memphis fans were ready to follow their team to the very end of an already outstanding season.
