Fans flock to purchase Final Four t-shirts at Tiger Gift Shop

Some of the most coveted pieces of Memphis Tigers merchandise in years went on sale quickly after the team's victory over Texas Sunday afternoon: Final Four t-shirts.

Even though the Tigers lead throughout Sunday's game, the shirt supplier waited until it was all over to start printing the shirts.

Soon after the game ended, Tiger fans in Memphis created a huge line outside the Tiger Gift Shop on South Highland to grab the shirts hot off the press.

"The crowd got so big we had to clear the entire store before we let anyone else in," said Michael Bowen, a manager at the store.

In fact, the Tiger Gift Shop sold 288 shirts in 30 minutes.  According to Bowen, it was the largest single crowd the store has seen during the Tigers' 2008 tournament run.

"I knew it would be crazy, but I had no idea it would go around the corner," he said. "It's insane.  This city is going crazy."

Management at the Tiger Gift Shop stressed that fans don't need to worry about the store running out of shirts.  As they are sold, more shirts are being printed.

The Tiger Gift shop opens at 8:00 a.m daily.
