YOUR TURN: Erik Jensen's comments about a judge's justice

This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Erik Jensen. Jensen is a Memphis police officer who says he's happy about the extra jail time given to the criminal who threatened the life of a Memphis judge. What Jensen is unhappy about is that he says suspects can threaten or even assault police officers without receiving additional punishment.

In Jensen's words:

"I will just state that if a suspect makes threats to an officer, he is not charged with anything. I have been told personally by judges and prosecutors that it is "just part of your job to be threatened." Did you know that there is not even a law on the books in Tennessee making it a more serious charge to assault an officer? It would be nice if the officer, out on the front lines everyday, got the same kind of justice a judge gets when he is assaulted."

That's Erik Jensen's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
