Mother wants answers in death of her son

The family of Charles Gaddy arrived at a section of the Nonconnah Creek at Millbranch and Airways just after rescuers pulled his body out of a drainage ditch.

Searchers with the Shelby County Sheriff's department discovered the body more than 15 hours after friends said the 19 year old  fell into this drainage ditch.

Witnesses say Gaddy was on this bridge at the apartment complex where he lived.

The body was about a half a mile away.

Gaddy's mother wonders how her son could fall into the once rain swollen ditch when the bridge he was on and the ditch are fenced in.

"To me, somebody pushed him in. To me he did not fall in because he cannot swim. He is not going to stand up there and jump in the water that he can't swim," mother Jeanella Gaddy said.

Jeanella Gaddy said her son had been arguing for most of the day with friends at the apartment complex where he lived.

She said a cousin told her he jumped in.

But she said she also heard one of the people with her son said he could swim.

"They pushed him in there," Gaddy said.

Police investigators said they talked with witnesses about what happened, but they have not opened up a criminal investigation.

Jenalla Gaddy just wants to know what happened to her son.
