Southaven Police release picture of bank robber

Southaven police released the picture of the man police say robbed Trustmark Bank in Southaven Wednesday morning.

Police said he showed the teller a handgun in his waistband and demand cash.

After the robber left the bank, the teller went to lock the door.

That is when the teller saw an important clue for police as the robber got caught in traffic.

"It's very heavy in traffic, held up trying to exit, teller was able to look at tags before got out of parking lot," Lt. Mark Little of the Southaven Police Department said.

It was Southaven's second bank robbery of the year. The first happened last Friday.

"With the economy the way it is, it's not surprising," Little said.

Investigators said the two men do not appear to be the same person.
"Sad state of affairs, business as usual spilling down from Memphis," customer Ben Colville said.

Colville works for a company that repairs glass.

He said he has seen calls go from four to five a week for break-ins to 13, all within the past few years.

Some longtime Trustmark Bank customers said they would like to see a security guard at the bank.

"They should have them at every bank for employees and customers for their safety," customer Bobbie Harrison said.
