Collierville police solve business break-ins

Collierville police said Monday they have solved break-ins at several area business.

Officials said they nabbed two men after a seven month investigation with the help of both police and citizens.

Last August, Action News 5 showed how Patton Computers caught two burglars on tape frantically ripping computers off the shelves.

They stole thousands of dollars in merchandise.

Collierville investigators got together with patrol officer to devise a plan to track the men down.

Late last month, they actually witnessed the suspects throwing a brick into a cell phone store.

The two suspects got away on foot, but left their car behind.

Police were then able to connect the car to CrimeStoppers tips and make the arrests

"We spent $6,000 in alarm system and $50,000 in doors to protect the store and I was excited that the Collierville Police Department, they came through," Billy Patton of Patton Computers said.

Police said the two suspects could be linked to up to five other break ins.

None of the stolen goods were recovered.

Police said electronics sell fast on the streets.
