Tigers fan shot and killed after incident at Memphis bar

A Tigers fan was shot and killed Monday night outside a Memphis bar and grill.

Investigators said it happened just after midnight.  According to police, that was when officers were called to a shooting at Tony's Bar and Grill, located in the 3100 block of Mendenhall.

When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside his car, which had crashed into a light pole.

"A citizen flagged down a patrolman's car and advised that there was a shooting that just occurred at Tony's Bar," Lt. Col. Mark McClain of the Memphis Police Department said.

Officers said the owner told them security guards asked Andre McLaren to leave the bar because he created a disturbance.

"They had to escort him out of the club because he was creating a disturbance and he was intoxicated.  The patron got in his vehicle and allegedly made doughnuts in the parking lot," McClain said.

A security guard told investigators he fired several bullets into McLaren's vehicle because he felt McLaren tried to run over him.

Right now, the attorney general is reviewing the case to see if the deadly force was justified.

Several of McLaren's relatives were very emotional at the scene last night, including his wife.

Police said she went to the bar with him but she was not in the SUV when her husband was shot.

Investigators are said it was not clear whether McLaren was upset about the game or for some other reason.
