Three apartment fires in three days have apartment residents worried

A fiery trend is developing in Memphis, with the latest example happening Thursday morning as a fire broke out at the Hilltop Regency Apartments.

So far investigators have not found anything that links the three fires other than the fact they all happened this week.

Still, three fires in three days has some renters concerned for their safety.

Tuesday it was the Mill Creek Apartments that caught on fire.

Wednesday it was the Clearbrook Village Apartments.

Thursday morning, firefighters scrambled to put out a fire at the Hilltop Regency apartment complex.

Resident Toni Freeman said several hours earlier, someone was smoking in the empty apartment where the fire broke out.

"A crack head...I think it was a crack head up there smoking," Freeman said.

Officials said the cause of the was still under investigation.

In the meantime, Freeman and others are concerned about what seems like a string of fires at apartment complexes.

Freeman said she moved into the apartment complex several months ago after leaving another complex because of a fire.

Fire investigators have also taken note of the fact there have been three fires at apartment complexes in the past three days.

While they haven't discovered any links, they do say these fire should give residents everywhere a reason to be more fire conscious.
