LOS ANGELES (AP) - Basketball great Jerry West, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak, the Dodgers' Nomar Garciaparra and other athletes claim they were bilked out of $3 million by a Los Angeles investment adviser.
More than a dozen people, many of them current or former athletes, filed a claim last June with securities regulators contending UBS Financial Services made unnecessary bond trades to reap commissions. The claim will be heard by an arbitration panel in July.
The trades were made by Gary R. Fournier, who no longer works for UBS. Fournier and UBS have denied wrongdoing.
West and the others are seeking unspecified damages.
