Late night crash snares Friday traffic

The intersection of Lamar and Winchester remained shut down to traffic late Friday morning after a late night crash between a tractor trailer and a car.

The accident Witnesses said a car travelling southbound on Lamar was turning onto Winchester when a tractor trailer ran a red light.

The tractor trailer slammed into the car, also knocking down a utility pole that controls the traffic lights at that intersection.

Four people in the car were not injured.  The driver of the tractor trailer, 48-year-old Mario Gomez-Duarte, was not injured, but his passenger was taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

Gomez-Duarte was cited for running a red light.

Both the north and southbound lanes of Lamar between Winchester and Getwell, as well as the east and westbound lanes of Winchester between Lamar and Goodlet remain closed this afternoon.
