Authorities searching for suspect who attacked family

BEAN STATION, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a man accused of shooting or stabbing four family members in East Tennessee.

Grainger County Sheriff James Harville says 34-year-old William Randall Crawford went to a home in Bean Station, located about 58 miles northeast of Knoxville, around 10 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities say he fired a shot, which grazed his mother-in-law Loretta Dalton in the head. He then shot his father-in-law Jeff Dalton and stabbed him.

Officials say Crawford next stabbed his wife Emily Crawford, 32, in the leg and then his teenage son in the chest. He also allegedly bit his daughter before fleeing the home.

The Citizen Tribune reports authorities are searching for Crawford, who left his vehicle less than a mile from the house and took off on foot.

Calls by the Associated Press to the sheriff's department were not immediately returned.       The family was taken the hospital. Jeff Dalton was listed in critical condition while the others' conditions were not immediately known.
