FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A record crowd turned out for the Arkansas spring game.
School officials report 40,300 people at the scrimmage Saturday topped the previous record, set in 1972, by nearly 10,000 fans.
Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long said the turnout showed high interest in the start of a new coaching era under Bobby Petrino. Petrino, former coach of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, was hired in December to replace Houston Nutt, who resigned and then took the top coaching job at Ole Miss.
