YOUR TURN: Thomas Evans supports the mayor

Many people wrote again this week to complain about the tax increase proposals for Memphis and Shelby County, but not everyone is opposing a tax increase.

For this week’s "Your Turn," we chose Thomas Evans’ letter. He supports Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton. In Evans' words:

"I am sick and tired of you forever taking swipes at Mayor Herenton. So you don’t like the guy. Deep down inside you all know that he is right about some kind of increase in property tax in order to pull this city through, but because it’s Mayor Herenton talking about a possible increase, you go after him as though he was a terrorist. You guys need to get a grip. Stop tearing this city apart with your slander. With crime running out of control in this city, I am willing to pay whatever it takes if it means safer streets, and less stress wondering if I’m next. Stop trying so hard to make the mayor look bad."

That's Thomas Evans' turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
