Police continue to search for carjacking suspects

Memphis Police continued to search Tuesday for two gunmen who carjacked a Memphis mother and her six-month-old baby early Monday morning.

The carjacking happened just after 1:00am Monday at The Landings Apartments in East Memphis.  Two armed gunman forced a young mother into the trunk of her Ford Taurus, then driving off in the car with her six-month-old baby in the back seat.

The woman was able to quickly free herself, and the two suspects abandoned the vehicle.

Later Monday morning, police were called to the Wal-Mart on Winchester Road about two potential suspects who were inside the store playing video games.  Both men were taken into custody an questioned, but were later released.

According to a police report, surveillance video exists of both men running away from the car.

The mother and her young baby were not injured in the incident.
